Im Sog des Blicks: Die Erste-Person-Perspektive als immersive Strategie des Films

Abstract

Since year one the evolution of audio-visual and interactive media creates new orders of perception whose meaning is to interweave the recipient even stronger and more diverse with the images. The choice of perspective of representation and presentation seems to be crucial because of its specific constitution which assigns a specific position for the recipient in the medial text. About this position we put ourselves in relationship to what we see, it regulates the dimensions of closeness and distance, and thus determines the degree of our involvement. Starting from Béla Balázs’ reflections on his philosophy of art of the film the following article works out the unchained camera understood as subjective camera as an immersive strategy of the film – a form of perspective, not only used in film but also in video games or within virtual reality systems.
